Dormant Bitcoin Wallets Wake Up to Move Over $15 Million

A series of long-dormant Bitcoin wallets have recently shown activity after remaining untouched for around a decade. Between August 29 and September 4, at least four separate vintage addresses initiated transfers moving a combined total of $15.7 million in Bitcoin.

Among the transactions was an early wallet holding coins that grew from an initial value of just $120 to roughly $3 million today. One batch of these reactivated coins was transferred directly to the Coinbase exchange, indicating that the holder may be preparing to sell.

These events demonstrate the enduring power of proper self-custody, showing how securely managing your own private keys allows wealth to be safely preserved over vast periods.
